david cohen

To whom it may concern.. this week im going to talk about my reactions to the video chat our class had with david cohen. after the discussion i was intrigued about the idea of spot.com and all that it had to offer. i really liked the idea that it is a professional webpage but can be written on by anyone who has something to say. this opens up a lot of oppurtunities for aspiring journalist, they can practice writting in on a webpage viewed by many, as well as get critiqued or noticed for the writting they are doing. i really enjoyed the conversation with him and thought that his website was an example of how the internet is really helping younger people get involved with their passions much easier than they would be able to years ago.

  1. I agree that its great to allow people the opportunity to be a "journalist" for a day and be able to put their ideas out there. So many people want to be able to have say in what gets written and provide ideas to the news. However the only thing I disagree with is the professionalism of the website. I found the website to be extremely cluttered and all over the place. There was no real flow and it really disappointed me. The concept is great but the presentation was not. People will be more intrigued and excited about spot.us if the layout and website was better kept.

  2. I agree with you too. I think it's a great idea to get people more interested in the news again. What better way to attract customers than by allowing them to pick the stories? But at the same time, $20 is a lot today to shell out for one story. Especially with the recession. But at the same time, the idea may just be good enough to pull the website through.
